Ayrshire pilot due to demand from Local Projects
The first Match Day, held at Kilwinning Sport Club, was a huge success with the MCMC group at Kilmarnock College coming out champions againist the other 5 teams; 3 hostels with members of staff as the mangers, Benedick Centre and Simon Community..
Participants enjoyed health checks, smoothies and hot soup! The Activator bus from KA leisure offered health MOT’s and massage, with 14 Health MOT's Completed. Community Food workers gave advice as to healthy eating and gave out smoothies and soup which went down a storm.
Simon Community and Addiction Services had atteded Street League events in Glasgow earlier in the year and were very positive about getting Street League Activity within Ayrshire. However after NHS Aryshire and Arran Worker, Karen Mckilvery, and Arrdrossen Hostel Manager, Jill todd, meet with Street League Staff at The Football and Regeneration Confrence at Kilmarnock Football Club the demand for Street League in Ayrshire seemed enevitable. This became the catalyst for NHS Ayrshire and Arran arranging a Local Partners meeting and Briefing sessions for participants to the Pilot Forward and the first tounament date was set.
The success of the Tournament generated interest and a 6 week pilot started week commencing 3rd November and will run until 11th December.
