Remember Remember the Talented D2W Autum 08 Graduates!

Always remember the 5th of November, is usually a phrase reserved for Fireworks night, however this 5th of November seen the Graduation of the latest block of Directions 2 Work participants at Hampden Park, the home of Scotlands national football team.

Throughout the latest block, which ran in Greenock from September - November, the participants attended and completed the following courses: Route Planning, SFA Early Touches level 1 and 2 on the childrens license, SFA Development Activities 1 and 2 on the Youth license, Community Sports Leaders award level 2. and the Appointed Persons First Aid Certificate.

The Graduation was a great success, with friendly banter, pool competitions, a slap up meal, before the  group headed to Hampden for a tour of the stadium and a trip up the famous stairs (which is usually reserved for the winners of the League Cup and Scottish Cup) to collect all their certificates. The D2W graduates then headed into the Scottish Football Museum, to look at the past history of Scotland’s football team, and other Scottish clubs achievements throughout the years.

As part of the D2W set up, anyone who comes onto the D2W programme and has at least an 80% attendance over the 9 weeks, is then eligible for a free Street League tracksuit, due to their commitment to the programme.

Brian lennox (Directions 2 work co-ordinator) commented ' I am delighted to say that all participants had a 100% attendance record and now have their tracksuits. I would also like to mention the winners of our two individual D2W competitions Paul Smart: Tryer of the course, and Malcolm Weir: Team Player of the course, who each won £25 in vouchers for a local Sports Store well done!'
