East London Champions

Report by Street League Coach Rizwan Aboo who managed the team:

"The east London rep team managed to overcome all the odds and win the Street league 11 a side competition. The season was not easy and a lot of hard work and effort went into preparation for each match.

"On training days players would arrive on time and would perform the task required of them in training. There attitude was no different to a professional footballer, the only difference was that they were not getting paid. Having set the standards in training the team went on to show great team spirit and togetherness which was achieved by wearing uniforms to match days. The uniform was nothing extravagant, it was simple, unique, and showed that they were a team. The uniform was compromised of white shirt, black trousers and shoes. The policy for match days was as follows; mobile phones off, no smoking before a game, a breakfast plan was provided to the players so that they can ensure took on board the correct nutrition required to play in a game of football and the players would leave the dressing room as a team

"All the above plus excellent attitude both on and off the pitch made the East London rep team champions. Like they say fail to prepare then prepare to fail…..they did anything but fail to prepare.

As a result of their hard work and effort the rep team was rewarded to meal at Nando’s followed by a trip to the cinema which was all paid for. The guys had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the season and also the meal.

"Anyone wishing to get into the Rep Team then let it be known that the standards have been set and will not be compromised. You must attend your sessions, be on time, and show good attitude. The rep team this year was won by a team, a team that showed."
