Street League staff visit Ghana

The African Cup of Nations provided the backdrop to a series of coaching projects, run by UK based charity, Tackle Africa. The charity is run by a number of volunteer trustees, one of whom is Street League's Head of National Development, Charlie Gamble.

Five volunteer coaches from the UK (including Head of Coaching, Jason McKoy and Service Development Manager, Gavin Atkins) spent two weeks in Ghana's capital Accra, using football to teach HIV/AIDS awareness to children and young adults. Over two weeks, the coaches worked ran sixteen sessions with over eight hundred children, in schools, football academies and a refugee camp. The trip was an amazing experience for all involved and a real eye opener, as Charlie explained, "it was a very successful project working with a number of excellent local partners. We fully intend to go back in the near future."

Tackle Africa is always looking for dedicated coaches to go on their projects. So if you hold at least your FA Level 1 and would like to know more, visit their website.
