After leaving school David attended QPR’s Football Academy where he studied for his BTEC Level 3 in Sport and Fitness Coaching. Having finished the Academy, David started actively looking for work but had little success.

David found out about the Street League Academy programme through his job centre adviser and attended a Street Football session to see if it was for him. David decided to join the Academy, and over the course of the programme he worked towards a range of qualifications in sports coaching as well as gaining interview techniques and help with writing his CV and applying for jobs.

Whilst on the Academy, Street League staff helped David secure an interview for a two-week work placement with Premier Inn. David excelled during the application process which consisted of an initial interview, numeracy and literacy assessment, and a one day trial. His two weeks were spent covering different aspects of hotel work, ranging from house keeping to reception. Upon completion of the placement, David was delighted to be offered a part-time job and hopes to continue his career working in the hotel and hospitality industry.

Speaking about his time on the Street League Academy, David said: “I’ve had some of the best experiences on the Academy. I got to meet Michael Owen and receive coaching advice from a former England International! Another high point was gaining invaluable tips around CV writing and job interviews from Street League’s corporate partners CVC.”
