At the time of joining Street League, Nicholas had been unemployed for over a year. He was struggling to obtain job interviews and couldn’t understand why as he had been applying for plenty of jobs and really wanted to secure employment.

Nicholas has a fantastic personality, bringing a lovely aura into a room and putting a smile on anyone’s face. He has an excitable nature about him and this is why Street League identified that he would be perfect for a work placement at Madame Tussauds to engage with customers and give them a fun experience. After an initial interview and an adventurous tour of Madame Tussauds, Nicholas was delighted and excited to hear if he had secured the placement as it was, in his words, 'my dream job'. Subsequently, Nicholas began a one week work placement with Madame Tussauds.

While on his placement in the role of attractions host, Nicholas gained valuable experience in greeting guests and giving them a positive and enjoyable visit. He particularly liked learning about the different ride operations and he was hoping to be trained to operate these. Nicholas had dyslexia and the support he received from Madame Tussauds was fantastic. They made a point of explaining tasks thoroughly so he could gain a clear understanding.

On completion of his work experience, Nicholas was encouraged to apply for a seasonal role and he was successful in his application. He has excelled in employment and passed his Ride Operations Training as he was keen to do. Nicholas is now applying for a more permanent position in the hope of making his ‘dream job’ a ‘dream career’ with Madame Tussauds.

Madame Tussauds, London: “After a great time on work experience here, we were happy to offer Nicholas a position. He started work with us as an attractions host and it has been a positive experience for both Madame Tussauds and Nicholas. He is fantastic at engaging customers so we have encouraged him to apply for additional roles with us."

Nicholas: “Before Street League I was tired of applying for jobs and getting nowhere. Street League gave me confidence, a great CV and support with applications. One of my biggest fears was being in a job and not enjoying it. From the first time I visited Madame Tussauds at interview stage, I was made to feel welcome. I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed working there and didn’t want to leave when I finished my placement. When I got the job offer I was so happy. The best part about working for Madame Tussauds is being part of a fun and welcoming team; we all support each other.”
