Marcus first found out about Street League after meeting one of the coaches who was visiting his local job centre. Passionate about football, Marcus wanted to do something that would combine his love of the game and help him find work.

After joining up with the Academy programme, Street League helped Marcus to identify some of the basics that would help him get a job and improve his CV.

Already with a coaching qualification, Street League suggested Marcus apply for a summer coaching vacancy with a local football club - Kirkby Quarry Green Junior Football Club. Following a successful interview, Marcus was delighted to be told that he’d been offered the job.

Looking back at his time on the Academy, Marcus said: "I gained some valuable skills and learnt how to be more independent. Being passionate about football and getting a job as a coach has been a dream come true. Seeing the children grow as players as well as individuals, and helping them develop their skills and teamwork has made me really happy. I’ve also witnessed changes in myself as I feel I have matured through the experience."

Having impressed during his time as a coach, Marcus was offered more work with the football club where he hopes to become a permanent member of staff.
