Marcelino was introduced to Street League by his cousin who was enrolled on the North London Academy course. Marcelino had never held a job outside of being a semi-professional footballer which he unfortunately had to drop out of when he sustained a long-term injury. Although unconvinced by the Academy at first, he realised that staff at Street League really cared about his development and they opened his eyes to working options beyond football.

Marcelino was a young man who seemed to have little direction after having to forgo his dream of becoming a professional footballer, but he found support from Street League staff who helped set new career goals and created an action plan to achieving his goals.

Having completed the Academy, it was announced at the graduation ceremony that Marcelino had been offered, and accepted, a six-month internship as Junior Client Communications Executive at State Street League Bank!

Speaking about his next steps, Marcelio said: “I am really excited to be starting the internship at State Street and I see it as a new challenge in my life. For me football has always been a big part of my life and I see working here as having a number of divisions that I have to work up in order to get to the top division. For me to win, I need to do well and get promoted. I have always had a competitive edge when playing sport and that drive has helped me gain the internship here. I can’t wait to get started and I am now looking forward to what the future holds.”
