The struggle is over for Brian - Manchester Brian found out about Street League by word of mouth and attended an Academy open day at the Sugden's Sport Centre in Manchester. He had been unemployed for over six months and was struggling to find any employment opportunities. It wasn’t through a lack of trying as he was regularly applying for jobs but constantly getting knocked back. Brian was selected for the Academy programme and right from the start he showed that he was focused to achieve the qualifications which would boost his chances of finding employment. Brian had some good work experience history and contributed well to the employability group work sessions, sharing his knowledge and experience. Before the end of week four, Brian had been offered a job through Skills Solutions as part of the caretaking staff at Manchester Metropolitan University. Although he had started working, he still visited the Academy to finish off the last bits of paperwork for his qualifications. Speaking about the Academy, Brian said: "Although I was already focused on gaining employment, the Academy programme helped me get into a daily routine and develop new skills and knowledge in the employability workshop sessions. These new skills have definitely helped me in my new role."
