Aaron was a very active individual, competing in athletics at club level and previously playing for Leyton Football Club. However, after finishing school and completing college, Aaron found himself in trouble with the police and ended up spending time in prison. Read more
Aaron had been wanting to get involved with Street League for some time, but needing surgery on an ankle injury he couldn’t commit until he felt physically ready. When Aaron did join the Academy, he quickly became a popular member of the group because of his openness and determination to overcome his restrictions. Read more
Cheryl and Elaine are sisters who joined the Street League Academy after moving to Hartlepool from Norfolk. Both were unemployed and struggling to find work so they decided to make the move to the North-East with some friends. Lynn, aged 17 had recently moved to Midlothian from Fife when she was referred to Street League. Lynn has been in care since she was 4 years old, moving from different foster homes and units frequently until 2016 where she came to Midlothian. Lynn had struggled to maintain positive relationships and particularly found it difficult to interact with males due to bad experiences. Lynn was battling depression, anxiety and self-harm. Read more

Alex was 18 when he was referred to Street League by his local Job Centre. Two years before joining Street League, Alex had achieved 11 GCSEs and chose to continue with formal education and study towards his A Levels. It was during his A Level studies that Alex got in with the wrong crowd and lost his motivation to study. Read more
When Mo first engaged with Street League at the Street Football sessions in south London, his only interest was to get fit enough to attend football trials when the season commenced. However, our Youth and Community Coach managed to persuade him to join the Academy programme where he could undergo more intense football training whilst gaining qualifications. Read more
Anthony was twenty-four when he joined Street League’s North London Academy. He’d left school at 16 with one GCSE and managed to find work through his dad, first in road maintenance and then as a delivery driver. However he was made redundant from the latter, and decided to give Street League a try after being unemployed for over four months. Read more
James joined the Street League Academy in Manchester after speaking to Street League staff at his local Job Centre. James loved football and felt the Academy would provide him with the support he needed to move his life and career forward. However, after studying for a year and unsure whether it was for him, he decided to take some time off to look after his baby daughter. Blair McGregor started with Street League Renfrewshire in September 2016 and instantly showed the desire and enthusiasm to progress into something positive. Blair came to Street League through our strong partnership with Invest in Renfrewshire and had previously worked for a local football club as a Community Football Coach, where he used his artistic ability to paint and renovate the outreach bus that serves communities around Renfrewshire. Andrew, from East Renfrewshire, joined Street League 6 months after he left school and wasn’t sure of his next step. Andrew, admit he faced barriers in moving on from school. “What was holding me back was confidence, I didn’t talk to anyone”. He Joined Street League to improve on his employability skills and to get help with his lack of motivation and confidence.
