About us News Street League nominated for 2016 SURF Awards Street League has been nominated for the prestigious national awards scheme, the 2016 SURF Awards, which identify and celebrate success in revitalising Scottish communities. The SURF Awards are delivered each year by SURF – Scotland’s Regeneration Forum, in partnership with the Scottish Government. As stated on their website, SURF’s panel of 18 independent judges - experts drawn from national regeneration bodies and community groups - have assessed this year’s applicants and selected 13 projects for 2016 across four categories, with Street League being nominated in the Youth Employability: Removing Barriers category alongside Stepping Up and X-CEED. After Street League’s most successful outcomes year to date, this is further recognition of not only the organisation’s effort as a whole in tackling youth unemployment, but more specifically to the teams in Scotland, who continue to change more young lives than ever before. On receiving the nomination, Street League Scotland Managing Director, Dougie Stevenson, is honoured to have made the shortlist and feels it serves as further acknowledgement of the immense effort Street League’s dedicated team of delivery staff put into changing the lives of young people on a daily basis. He said: “It is a pleasure to be shortlisted for the prestigious Employability award by SURF. It is fantastic recognition for the Scottish delivery teams at Street League, who achieved 1024 hard outcomes last year from a total of 84 social programmes, across 15 local authorities.“ Over the coming weeks, the judges will be visiting all of the nominated projects across Scotland ahead of the awards ceremony which will be held on the evening of Tuesday 6 December at the 2016 SURF Awards Presentation Dinner event in Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel.
