Street League's Response to Covid-19
Despite lockdown restrictions, we want to ensure that every young person can access our support. We are still here, and able to support you to gain skills and qualifications and get moving into work through our remote education offer.
Street Leagues online sports and employability programme will offer:
A blended approach to access remote online sessions and home learning that offer a personalised programme for each participant supporting them to stay focused and positive. These sessions will be delivered via Zoom or Microsoft Teams and enable delivery of our sport and employability programmes online offering the same curriculum we would deliver in our academies and enable participants to achieve accredited qualifications in Maths, English and Employability ensuring young people have the opportunity to learn.
Whilst on programme, participants will be assigned a Progressions Coordinator who will take responsibility for their journey. Our online sessions will be supported by regular reviews and 1-2-1’s conducted online, or over the phone to monitor and track progress to achieving qualifications and employability goals. Participants will be provided with hard copy workbooks and stationery as well as access to online resources that are accessible via smartphones, tablets or laptops.
Young people’s wellbeing is at the heart of our programmes, and we will support them to stay healthy and take care of their wellbeing by ensuring that they have the opportunity to have fun and stay active whilst at home. Our Youth and Community coaches will share regular exercises, drills and circuits and review progress with achieving personal development goals.
Online sessions will be available Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm via Zoom or Microsoft Teams across our regions and offer a timetable of live remote lessons and alternative modes of learning that will be available to all participants. Participants may also be set tasks using a range of external platforms designed to support subject delivery. These might for example include online platforms such Dynamic Learning for Maths and English. Participants work will continue to be assessed in line with Street Leagues Assessment and Verification Quality Procedure with feedback on marked work provided on an ongoing basis and discussed at regular progress reviews.
When enrolling onto an online programme we will assess the barriers a participant may face in accessing online sessions and provide additional support with access to devices and data for participants who do not have access to internet or digital equipment in order to complete their programme. Not all teaching and learning will take place using live sessions, alternative options will be available to ensure participants can engage and complete their programme.
Where Street League Academies have been risk-assessed and deemed safe to open, we will be providing some access to sites for participants to access specialist facilities. This will be assessed on an individual basis and participants will be notified when these spaces and resources are available, and it is safe to attend the venue.
We are working with our awarding organisation and guidance from Ofqual on arrangements for external assessments and exams and will notify of arrangements as soon as these have been confirmed.
In line with Street Leagues Youth Voice framework we will continue to obtain feedback from participants through surveys, focus groups and individual 1-to-1’s to ensure that we continually review and improve our service to best meet the needs of our client group.
