Liverpool trailblazer academy
Street League are delighted to have been awarded funding from Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, a first in its history, to deliver a Youth Guarantee Trailblazer Community Grants programme in partnership with VOLA, focussed on young people in the region aged 18-21, in need of employability and essential skills development. The Liverpool City Region is one of eight Trailblazer areas across the country, funded by the UK Government as part of its Get Britain Working plan.
Street League will deliver an Academy programme across Liverpool, running over 8 weeks, that will focus on providing participants with the first steps in learning to remove barriers and help progression into employment, education or training.
Through a blend of classroom-based and practical accredited and non-accredited provision, activities for participants will include employability and essential skills, increasing fitness, mental health and well-being, ‘soft skills’ improvement, interview skills and more.
David Doyle, Head of Contracts and Quality at Street League said, “We are thrilled to have been awarded this funding from Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. The funding not only allows us to continue delivering our essential services in the region, but demonstrates the trust instilled in Street League to help more young people get on their way to a positive outcome.”
Stuart McGrory, Consortium Manager, from VOLA Merseyside said, “We’re delighted to have funded Street League to deliver this programme. We have been aware for some time of the great work that the charity does in supporting young people to progress in life, but have never had the opportunity to work together before. So we are excited at this new development and look forward to hearing of the positive impacts the Academy programme has on the young people it engages.”
