OUR YOUTH BOARD: Promoting Youth voice at street league
“It is important to have a Youth Board, as it helps the company find out what the younger generation are looking for and to give them advice and guidance. I think you should never stop believing in what you can do as one day it might come true.”
Logan, Scottish Youth Board Member
“I have found the Youth Board to be a very interesting and beneficial program for myself and the other young people to be a part of. Not only does it engage us with topics that get the brain working, but it also allows us to meet new likeminded people and be part of something that can help shape the way Street league works as a whole.”
Ben, North England Youth Board Member
At Street League, we believe it is essential to consult youth voice in key business decisions, ensuring we provide the most relevant and effective support to young people.
In 2022, we launched our first youth board in Scotland, followed by another in the North of England in 2024. This year we launched our South England Youth Board which now completes our UK Youth Board collective.
Both boards consist of former Street League participants who are dedicated to offering feedback, ideas, and suggestions towards our strategic decision making.
Since their conception, the youth boards have been consulted on key initiatives and strategic decisions that will positively impact the experience young people have at Street League. Their input is invaluable to the organisation and guarantees we have representation for young people at the heart of everything we do.
Some of the areas they have consulted on to date are:
Developing and trialling content to deliver on our programmes.
Informing the design and collection of participant starter pack.
Informing our fundraising teams with ideas & insights.
Attendance at funder events.
Informing how we design Street League's Online Sign-Up Process.
Representing Street League at partner events.
Participating on our youth boards takes a degree of commitment, and we recognise this via renumeration that helps members to enhance their employment prospects, for example, driving lessons, IT equipment, or further educational courses.
